For a Stronger, Fairer Cardiff West

I’m here to deliver change

After 14 years of Tory chaos and disorder, it is time for change.

This Conservative Government have been the first in modern history to preside over a fall in living standards.

Their economic mismanagement has pushed Wales to the edge, devolution has been disrespected, and hope has been extinguished by the Tory vandals in Westminster.

I know that I have big boots to fill after the brilliant 23 years of service by Kevin Brennan. He is a political heavyweight, who has worked tirelessly to gain your trust and respect. I’m up for the challenge and want to work just as hard for the residents of Cardiff West.

I recognise that you have been consistently let down by the Tories in Westminster, but with two Labour Governments working in partnership, we can turn the page after years of Tory chaos.

Cardiff West is a great community, but it has been badly let down over the last 14 years. The Tories have left the country worse off than when they started. Living standards are down. Crime goes unpunished. Mortgages and food prices are through the roof.

I want to work with my Welsh Labour colleagues across Cardiff West and beyond to get Cardiff West and Wales’s futures back.

A voice for Cardiff West

I intend to build on Kevin Brennan’s legacy of delivering for all of you, and I look forward to meeting as many of you as possible.

About Alex

It is a great honour to have been selected as Welsh Labour’s candidate for Cardiff West.

It is a real privilege to return to Wales as Welsh Labour’s candidate for Cardiff West. I was born and grew up in Wales, living in Gronant and St. Asaph until I went to university in London at the age of 18.

After studying law, I worked for an international law firm and on various political and social justice campaigns, including fantastic organisations like the Child Migrants Trust. Since 2015, I have also been a Chair of Governors at a large inner-city primary school. Most recently, I have been working for the national Labour Party with Keir, Angela and the entire team to prepare for this important general election.

My Mum and Dad spent their careers as a teacher and police officer in North Wales. They instilled in me the importance and values of public service, so I am honoured to be your candidate to represent Cardiff West.

I know this process has been a rapid one and Kevin stepping down has been a shock to many of you. Please know that I intend to build on Kevin’s legacy of delivering for all of you, and I look forward to meeting as many of you as possible in the weeks ahead (both in Cardiff West and in those target seats we have to win across Wales).

We know that Wales is best served with a UK Labour Government in Westminster, working in partnership with our Welsh Labour Government. I look forward to playing my part in that and am excited to meet as many of you as possible as we campaign to get Welsh Labour MPs elected on 4 July.

Thank you.
